A special pink bus service has been launched in Dhaka, Chittagong and Bogra to ensure safe and comfortable travel for women. Road Transport Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam inaugurated the service at the BRTC Dhaka Truck Depot premises in Tejgaon in the capital on Tuesday (August 18) at around 12 noon.

This special bus service will be operated by female drivers and female conductors. The bus service will start from Tuesday afternoon, subject to availability of passengers. Passenger service will be fully operational on the designated route from tomorrow, Wednesday.

Initially, this service is being started with 10 buses on various important routes in the capital. Apart from this, two buses will run in Bogra and two in Chittagong. That is, a total of 14 buses in the three cities will be covered under this special service.

Considering the demands and needs of passengers, the number of buses under this service may be further increased in the future.
