Farhad Hossain Azad
State Minister for Water Resources Farhad Hossain Azad said that India should prove that they are our true friends by giving Bangladesh its fair share of water.
He said these things while inspecting the project area for the construction of the 2nd Karatoya Bridge over the Karatoya River in Mirgarh area of Dhakmara Union of Panchagarh Sadar Upazila on Sunday (October 11) morning.
Stating that the Farakka Agreement is expiring in December, the State Minister said, “I hope India will distribute the water of the 54 connected rivers according to their fair share.” The Farakka Agreement is expiring on December 12. There was also controversy over India’s support during the previous fascist government, so if we renew the agreement with a guarantee clause, it will end the controversy and prove that they are truly our friends.
Later, the State Minister distributed leaflets to businessmen in various places in Panchagarh district town detailing the irregularities and corruption of the previous Awami League government.
