Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, for me, power is not an object of enjoyment. I did not come to power for comfort. I have worked day and night to improve Bangladesh, and I have been able to do it successfully.

He said these things at the opening ceremony of the National Fisheries Week on Wednesday morning at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital.

The head of government said, I am alive with the pain of losing my relatives. I know the pain of losing someone. People cannot bear a grief and I am missing everyone.

Sheikh Hasina said, the problem is that it was not an issue. The quota which I had completely canceled was brought back in the High Court judgment, then we appealed on behalf of the government. The Appellate Division stayed the High Court’s judgment and set a date for a full hearing. That quota comes back to work. Later all demands were met Still, what happened in the country around this incident, so many lives will be lost I could not even think of it.

The Prime Minister said, I have not left any deficiency in the quota issue from my side Condolences to those who lost their lives Structures may be rebuilt, regained, but the lives lost will never return

He also said that today we have got the status of a developing country. The world today looks at Bangladesh with respect. Blood will be shed again in that Bangladesh, why this blood shed. Today, Bangladesh is a role model of development in the world. I leave the burden of judgment to the countrymen as to why that dignity was destroyed.
