Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has invited Malaysia to set up manufacturing facilities for their Perodua brand cars in Bangladesh. Malaysia’s outgoing High Commissioner Haznah said this Wednesday morning. This call was made when Hashim came to have a farewell meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

In the meeting, the Prime Minister and the High Commissioner recalled the long-standing and existing relations between the two countries since the time of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. After the meeting, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Mohammad Naemul Islam Khan gave this information to the journalists.

PHP Motors of the PHP family has tied up with Perodua, a leading Malaysian automobile brand, to assemble their cars and SUVs in Bangladesh and sell them in the local market.

Regarding the anarchic situation created by the BNP-Jamaat over the students’ quota reform movement, Hashim told the Prime Minister, “I have confidence in your ability to handle the current situation.” You are handling the situation fully and well and it is internal matter of Bangladesh. Quoting the ambassador, the press secretary said, he sees that everything is under control.

The High Commissioner said the cumulative investment of Malaysian businesses in Bangladesh has risen to US$5 billion – mainly driven by two telecommunications companies, Robi and Edtco Bangladesh, which have reinvested their profits here.

Sheikh Hasina said that several Malaysian students are studying in Bangladesh Agricultural University, Medical College and other institutions.

For this purpose, the High Commissioner thanked the Prime Minister.

Highlighting Malaysia’s health facilities, the ambassador said many of their hospitals are close to Singapore. But if you consider the medical care, the cost is less than that. Therefore, Bangladeshis can take health facilities there. Because more than 70 doctors in Singapore are from Malaysia.

Ambassador-at-Large Mohammad Ziauddin and Chief Secretary M Tofajzel Hossain Mia were present at the time.
