The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) attempted to push an unidentified person into Bangladesh through the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah. However, the attempt failed due to the obstruction of a BGB patrol. The person later took up position near the barbed wire of the border inside India.
On Sunday (September 27) at around 10:45 am, an attempt was made to force him into Bangladesh through a gate along border pillar 60/98-R in the area under the responsibility of Khoshalpur BOP in Maheshpur upazila.
58 BGB (Moheshpur Battalion) said that members of the Ramnagar camp of India’s 194 BSF Battalion tried to push an unidentified man into Bangladesh. Upon seeing the incident, members of the Khoshalpur BOP patrol team quickly took position at the border and prevented the man from entering Bangladesh.
A press release signed by Assistant Director of Maheshpur Battalion (58 BGB) Munshi Imdadur Rahman said that the illegal push-in attempt by the BSF failed due to BGB obstruction. The person is currently staying near the barbed wire inside India. 194 BSF has already been officially informed about the matter.
He further said that the BGB is on the highest alert to secure the border, prevent push-ins and illegal infiltration, and maintain peace and order in the border areas. BGB patrols and activities are continuing to prevent any kind of infiltration at the border.
