Police have released 254 people detained at the central office of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) in the capital’s Gulistan.
On Saturday (September 26), 278 people were arrested on suspicion of being banned Awami League leaders and activists in a raid at that office.
As of Sunday (September 27), police officials were verifying the information of 24 people as of the writing of this report.
At noon, Deputy Police Commissioner of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Department Md. Akter Hossain said that 254 out of 278 people have been released, but no final decision has been taken regarding the remaining 24 as the investigation and verification process is still ongoing.
Officials said that a list of leaders and activists has been taken from the leaders of JSD. After verifying these documents, 254 people have been released as their identities have been identified. Similarly, the identities of others are being verified. The next decision will be taken once the identities are identified. However, no case has been filed in this incident till yesterday afternoon.
