On August 15, 1975, the assassins killed Bangabandhu and wanted to erase his name from the hearts of Bengalis. But their efforts were not successful. Bangabandhu is still leading the way as an inspiration. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is an example of how strong a person is even after death, how much a nation can be united.
Today is the fourth day of that sad August. August 4, 1975 was a Monday. Maj. Gen. Majedul Haque, who returned to Pakistan, met Bangabandhu at 10:00 a.m. that day. Moazzem Ahmad Chowdhury met with MP Bangabandhu at 5:30 p.m., Jatiya Krishak League leader Rahmat Ali met MP Bangabandhu at 6 p.m. He was the leader of Moshtaq’s ‘Swanirbhar Bangladesh’ programme. Shamsul Haque, the Bangladeshi ambassador assigned to Moscow, met Bangabandhu at 6:10 pm.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s life was a struggle. He got involved in politics as a student. He grew up in struggle. He became the leader of Bengali nationalism since the 1960s by building a democratic movement against the military junta of Pakistan. On March 7, 1971, Bangabandhu Baj declared in a loud voice in the stormy sea of millions of people at the Race Course Maidan in Dhaka, ‘This time’s struggle is the struggle for our liberation, this time’s struggle is the struggle for freedom.’ Enlivened by this declaration, the nation chanted the slogan of independence and jumped against the invading forces of Pakistan. Take away the freedom of the country.
After independence, Bangabandhu started the task of rebuilding the war-torn beloved country with skillful hands. Despite Pakistan’s opposition, within a short period of time most countries and organizations around the world recognized Bangladesh. Bangabandhu built Bangladesh’s own army, air force and navy within limited forces. Formulated the constitution. In addition, within this short period of time, Bangabandhu implemented various groundbreaking works such as withdrawal of Indian army, surrender of arms to freedom fighters, special plan for freedom fighters, nationalization program, formulation of five-year plan, formulation of defense policy.
