Honorable President Md. Sahabuddin urged all concerned to make relentless efforts to achieve the target of creating 5 million scouts in Bangladesh by 2030.
Honorable President said, ‘At present the membership of the organization is more than 25 lakhs. This trend of scout movement should be continued to meet the target of making 5 million scouts in Bangladesh by 2030. That is why I call upon all concerned to make relentless efforts.’
He made this call in a message given yesterday on the occasion of the ’52nd Annual (Triennial) General Meeting of the National Council of Bangladesh Scouts’ today.
Honorable President welcomed this initiative of the National Council of Bangladesh Scouts and extended his best wishes and congratulations to all the members of the Bangladesh Scouts and the Council.
Honorable President Md. Sahabuddin said that scouting plays an important role in developing the youth community as self-reliant, virtuous and ideal citizens by regular training and reflection in personal life according to specific action plans. He said that the importance of scout movement is immense in motivating and accustoming children, teenagers and youth to various non-political, service and educational activities. Scouting started in the country in 1972 with the sincere interest of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Hon’ble President said, Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced ‘Vision 2041’ to make Bangladesh a developed and prosperous smart country by 2041. To achieve this goal, the youth community of the country should be developed as smart citizens with the spirit of the great liberation war, skilled and human values. Scout movement can make a positive contribution in this regard. He expressed hope that the new leadership elected at this council meeting will advance the scouting movement with skill and competence.
Hon’ble President congratulated the scout members who have been awarded this year for their meritorious work and significant contribution to Scouting.
He wished the 52nd Annual (Triennial) General Meeting of the National Council of Bangladesh Scouts all success.
