Own Correspondent: No food match was found with the photo of the menu card on the flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. This happened in the VVIP flight carrying the Hon’ble Prime Minister himself. Recently, Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home after a six-day official visit to Thailand. On the flight to this tour, the ‘Different Meal’ was available by ordering the preferred meal according to the menu.
Meanwhile, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has issued a show-cause notice to the General Manager of Biman Flight Catering Center in such an incident.
The Honorable Prime Minister arrived at the Dong Mueang International Airport in Bangkok from Bangladesh on April 24. Honorable Prime Minister noticed that the food did not match with the picture of the menu card served on the plane. Later he expressed his displeasure about it.
According to the show cause notice, as per the VVIP menu, ‘Fried Chilli with Stuffing’ served as preferred by the Hon’ble Prime Minister does not match the actual image of the food shown on the menu card. The Hon’ble Prime Minister expressed his displeasure at this. As per the choice of Sheikh Rehana, the younger sister of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, when the ‘Chicken Mortadella Sandwich on Brown Bread’ was served, the picture of the food shown on the menu card did not match in reality. He also expressed dissatisfaction with this.
The show cause notice states that you did not properly supervise or monitor the preparation of the food, so the said food was not prepared following the correct recipe as per the two menus. It shows that you have shown negligence and carelessness in preparing food for an important flight like VVIP.
The notice further states that such activities are not acceptable even if you are a responsible officer. Due to your negligence and carelessness in the performance of duty, the image of BFCC and Biman has been greatly tarnished by the Honorable Prime Minister and his younger sister Sheikh Rehana. Such activities on your part are strictly punishable offenses as per the Bangladesh Biman Employees (Employment) Regulations adopted and followed by Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Therefore, you are directed to submit your written reply within 48 hours showing reasons why disciplinary action should not be taken against you in view of the above incident. Otherwise administrative action will be taken against you.
