More than 1.8 million user records and at least 17,362 sets of login information from Bangladesh have been found on the dark web.

This information has emerged in a report by CyberStation, the cybersecurity division of Brain Station-23 PLC.

This information was given at a program titled ‘Bangladesh Cyber Resilience Briefing 2026’ organized at the BRAC Center on Thursday (October 15).

The event was attended by approximately 150 representatives from the government, banking, telecommunications, technology, and education sectors, as well as regulatory agencies and cybersecurity experts.

According to a press release, CyberStation reviewed a total of 767 domains across 15 sectors and found evidence of personal information leaks in almost all of them.

It said that the largest share of leaked citizen data was in the government services sector. On the other hand, the rate of data leaks was highest in the technology and telecommunications sectors.

The organization said these figures are minimum estimates; the actual number could be higher.

“We can’t fix the risks we can’t see,” said Mohibbul Moktadir Tanim, head of cybersecurity services at CyberStation. “Our goal is for organizations to understand what information has been leaked and take action before criminals misuse it.”

MJ Ferdous, Executive Director of Brain Station 23, urged to further strengthen the country’s cybersecurity system by reducing dependence on foreign software.

A panel discussion at the event discussed the risks of data leaks on the dark web and ways to address them. The panelists emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to prevent the misuse of personal information.
