Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sought cooperation from the United Nations and other international organizations to conduct a fair investigation into the nationwide violence surrounding the quota reform movement. He said, we have appealed to the United Nations, there are various international organizations in the country and abroad, we want cooperation from them too. There should be a proper and fair investigation into this incident and those who are guilty should be punished. Because I know I was not lacking in it.
The Prime Minister said that destructive things have happened in the name of movement. Many lives have been lost. I never thought that such a situation would arise at this time. And there will be so many fresh lives.
Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of life, the Prime Minister said, “We have already constituted a judicial inquiry committee to investigate this incident.” I did not wait for the demand. Before that, I have made a judicial inquiry committee.
Sheikh Hasina said, earlier I made an investigation committee with a judge. Now two more people have been ordered to increase the scope of their investigation.
The prime minister said that many fresh lives have been lost in the incidents and destructive actions that have taken place in the name of this movement. He said, I don’t know what was my crime? My question is who has achieved what to destroy the country’s achievements by doing this destructive activity in the name of the movement on the non-existent issue, to destroy the image of Bangladesh internationally? Today, Bangladesh is a role model of development in the world. Why was that dignity destroyed? By raising that question, he gave the burden of judging it to the people of the country.
Sheikh Hasina said, you should find out who is involved in this conspiracy to drag the country back by hunting fish in the muddy water.
At the event, the Prime Minister presented ‘National Fisheries Medal-2024’ to 22 individuals and organizations in 7 categories. Awards include 6 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze medals, mementos and prize money. The Prime Minister also distributed smart ID cards among the fishermen on the occasion. Along with 22 individuals and institutions, the Prime Minister was also awarded a gold medal at the event for his significant contribution to fisheries.

The Prime Minister visited the injured at Kurmitola Hospital
Dhaka, July 31, 2024 (BSS): Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited Kurmitola General Hospital after 5 pm. He inquired about the condition of the persons undergoing treatment there after being attacked by the BNP-Jamaat clique during the quota reform movement of students in government jobs.
He directed the hospital authorities to take necessary measures to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
The prime minister became emotional after seeing the severity of the injuries and hearing about the brutality of the attack. He could not hold back his tears at this time.
While visiting the Kurmitola General Hospital, Director of the hospital Brigadier General Saidur Rahman informed the Prime Minister about the treatment arrangements for the injured.
He then visited the injured at the National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital in Mohakhalis.
