On Wednesday (May 29), South Korean Ambassador Park Yong Sik, appointed in Dhaka, expressed this interest during a meeting with the Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury at his office. During this time they discussed various issues including bilateral friendly relations, business and trade.
Park Yong-sik told Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury that Korea is interested in direct investment in Bangladesh. Appropriate legislation should be enacted to attract foreign direct investment.
Shirin Sharmin said that as Bangladesh has built the Padma Bridge with its own funding, various development activities are also ongoing with foreign funding. The process of establishing 100 economic zones in the country is underway to attract foreign direct investment. Korean investors have direct investment opportunities in the information and communication technology sector including the RMG sector of this country.
After the discussion, Park Yong-sik invited the speaker to visit Korea. Shireen Sharmin said, knowledge can be gained about the best practices of the Parliaments of the two countries through mutual visits of the Parliamentary Alliance Group. Parliamentary Alliance Group can play an important role in the development of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Korea.
