Banks, stock markets and courts will be closed.
A three-day general holiday has been declared from tomorrow (Monday, August 5) due to the ongoing situation in the country. Today (Sunday, August 4) this information was revealed by the Ministry of Public Administration.
Banks and stock markets will be closed during this time. Besides, all court proceedings will remain closed until further orders.
Two separate notices signed by Registrar General Aziz Aham Bhuya gave details about the suspension of court proceedings.
According to the notification, judicial and official activities of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court will be closed from August 5 until further orders in the current situation of the country. In case of emergency, the Chief Justice can form an emergency bench at any time and order the conduct of judicial proceedings.
Also, judicial and official proceedings of all subordinate courts/tribunals of the country will remain closed until further orders. The Chief Justice may at any time order any court/tribunal to conduct proceedings in case of urgent need.
One or more Magistrates in the Courts of the Chief Judicial Magistrate and the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate shall be in full-time duty under constitutional obligation.
