Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that during the recent quota reform movement, the anarchists wanted to try to create a Sri Lanka-type riot in the country and planned to overthrow the government.
He said this when India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Prannoy Verma paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister at Ganabhaban on Wednesday (July 31).
Later, the press secretary of the Prime Minister. Naemul Islam Khan briefed the journalists.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, it was not an ordinary movement. It becomes almost like a terrorist attack at some point.
The Prime Minister said that they (the rioters) actually planned Sri Lanka type violence and overthrow of the government.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina mentioned with sadness the loss of life and property in the recent violence. The Indian High Commissioner also expressed grief over the loss of life and property in the recent violence in Bangladesh.
Prannoy Verma welcomed the gradual normalization of the situation and return to normal economic activities.
The High Commissioner of India said that as a close neighbour, India always supports the vision, progress and prosperity of the government and people of Bangladesh.
Regarding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s recent visit to India, Prannoy Verma said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s recent successful visit has achieved meaningful results and has consolidated past achievements and created a blue-print for future cooperation.
The High Commissioner said that Bangladesh-India relations have entered a new era of cooperation based on the national development vision of the two countries, Bangladesh 2041 and India’s 2047 vision. Digital and green partnership, joint development of satellites, blue economy, oceanography, fintech and other new areas will be cooperated.
Regarding regional connectivity, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “All my doors are open to strengthen connectivity between four countries (Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Bhutan).
