The Election Commission (EC) has finalized a total of 42 election symbols for the Union Parishad elections.
The Election Commission (EC) has finalized a total of 42 election symbols for the posts of chairman, general member and reserved women member for the Union Parishad elections.
In a notification signed by EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed, a total of 20 symbols have been finalized for the chairman post, 12 for general member posts, and 10 for reserved seat member candidates.
The symbols that will be used for the chairmanship this time are: computer, banana stick, bell, horse, shrimp, jug, table, table clock, telephone, building, double-decker bus, turban, baby taxi, peacock, mobile phone, motorcycle, mora, railway engine, sofa and duck.
The symbols reserved for general membership are camel, cup, saucer, kite, ship, flashlight, tubewell, tractor, lock, football, electric fan, electric bulb, and rooster.
The symbols reserved for reserved seat members are – cupboard, pitcher, dressing table, palanquin, fruit basket, microphone, sewing machine, sunflower, deer and helicopter.
The EC has said that according to their plan, the upcoming Union Parishad (UP) elections will be held in a non-partisan manner, which means that there will be no political party symbols in the elections.
Earlier, the UP Chairman election was held on the party symbol. After the amendment of the relevant law, the party symbol has been removed from the election rules.
