Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has wished Bangladeshi Foreign Minister and President of the United Nations General Assembly Dr. Khalilur Rahman success in his duties.
He expressed hope that the current session of the General Assembly will help countries work collectively to address various global challenges and threats.
Lavrov made the remarks during a meeting with Khalilur during the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 23. The Russian Embassy in New York issued a statement today.
During the meeting, both discussed various issues on the agenda of the session and highlighted the importance of the role of the General Assembly as a representative forum for dialogue among states.
They also stressed the need to improve the internal environment of the General Assembly and re-establish a dialogue based on mutual respect. Lavrov expressed hope that the proceedings of the session would be conducted professionally and free from politicization.
