Not a single ball was bowled in the second quarter-final of the men’s cricket match between India and Afghanistan at the Asian Games. The match was abandoned due to rain. India advanced to the semi-finals as they are ahead of Afghanistan in the ICC rankings, according to the playing conditions of the tournament.
The match was abandoned 16 minutes before the scheduled toss due to heavy rain at Karogi Sports Park in Nishin on Monday (September 28). Most of the field was covered due to heavy rain.
Earlier, the first quarter-final between Pakistan and Hong Kong was also abandoned due to rain. Pakistan advanced to the semi-finals as they were ahead in the rankings. Their opponents will be decided after the third quarter-final between Nepal and Sri Lanka.
As the top seeds, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan have directly qualified for the quarterfinals. The Tigers will face Malaysia in the final quarterfinal. If the match is washed out due to rain, the red-green representatives will advance to the last four.
