New fear of electric car fire

Due to fuel efficiency, the production and use of electric vehicles is now expanding worldwide. Despite its notoriety with clients, firefighters face challenges in putting out electric vehicle fires. Since, there is still no compelling innovation to deal with lithium-ion battery fires in electric vehicles. And so despite the fact that electric car fires are uncommon, firefighters need to be prepared.

Electric vehicle fire designs are very diverse compared to gasoline fueled vehicles. In this regard, Terry Maher, Director of Essex Fire and Rescue Service Station in the United Kingdom, said that it is very difficult to get to an electric vehicle if the source of the fire is the battery. Electric vehicle fires can also cause evaporative explosions. Such fire reacts with discussion and water to deliver various toxic chemicals. For this reason, when an electric vehicle catches fire, firefighters hold it until it burns out completely.

If an electric car catches fire, it is likely to catch fire again after two or three weeks. And so after putting out a little fire, the electric car had to be kept away from other vehicles. A petrol or diesel car fire can be extinguished within 30 minutes as a rule, but an electric car takes four to five hours.

Ricardo La Torre, national officer of the UK Fire Brigades Union, said putting out battery fires was a complex and troublesome job. With the advancement of green innovation, the weight of electric vehicles on the road is expanding rapidly. In addition to unusual preparations, how to put out an electric car battery fire should be investigated.
