State of the Nation address to crack down on anarchy: Chief Adviser

The chief adviser of the interim government. Muhammad Yunus

The peace Nobel laureate, the chief adviser of the interim government expressed his determination to suppress those who spread the poison of anarchy. Muhammad Yunus said, “Whoever spreads the poison of anarchy now will be thwarted by the full force of law and order forces, including the victorious student crowd.”

He said, ‘The conspirators have created an atmosphere of anarchy and fear in the country to destroy this freedom at the moment of our second independence festival in the student uprising. Anarchy is our enemy. It must be defeated quickly.’

He said these things in his address to the nation after being sworn in as the chief adviser on Thursday (August 8) night.

Dr. Muhammad Yunus said, ‘At the moment, as the first duty of the government, we will suppress these conspirators with a strong hand. The first promise of our government is to ensure that everyone can breathe the free air of freedom. I am seeking the cooperation of the countrymen in this regard. Secondly, our law and order institutions will not be left out of this gathering of freedom. Army, Navy, Air Force, Border Guard, Police, Ansar, Village Defense, Coast Guard will not be left out. Every member of them, like everyone else, is today free from the extrajudicial coercive dictates of the superior. If it disturbs even the slightest bit for anyone, our celebration today will fade away.’

He said, ‘The despotic government that fell very cruel kept the power axed by giving these institutions. We will thwart his efforts and bring back the lost glory of the institutions. Those who have committed the crime by being used in this despicable attempt will be punished soon by due process of law. The same applies to all ministries, organizations, educational institutions and various workplaces of the country. All criminals will be prosecuted.’

The Chief Adviser said, ‘Today, I am doing it on behalf of the countrymen by remembering the martyred students of the anti-discrimination student movement who made it possible for all of us to taste freedom for the second time. Without their heroic sacrifice, courage and unification of the whole country, this independence would never have been possible.’

He said, “At the same time, the nation’s gratitude and congratulations to the fearless members of the army, navy and air force who stood by the people of the country and hastened this victory by realizing their desire for freedom.”

This Nobel laureate said, ‘Today every institution and its members will enjoy the second freedom by fulfilling their respective duties. Take the country to the peak of glory and give the countrymen and the world a chance to enjoy. On behalf of the nation, I request everyone to come forward with their own abilities in their workplaces without fear, with joy.’

Mentioning that our student martyrs have given their lives to ensure that all the people of the country are free, fearless and untroubled, he said, ‘The government created through this coup is the government of everyone in the country. Here will be the right to fulfill everyone’s desire.

“The cruel dictator is gone,” said the chief adviser. As the sun rises tomorrow, democracy, justice, human rights for complete freedom of expression without fear, everyone is feeling comfortable. It is our aim that everyone will enjoy the close proximity of the government that strives to provide opportunities for life and the sympathetic parsha.’

He said, ‘Help us achieve this goal. Today the whole world is surprised and says hello to Bangladesh. Hello students of Bangladesh. We want to take this achievement even further. Nothing is impossible for our student body if we stay united, stay away from destructive activities. I can create a free environment for everyone.’
