Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has strongly criticized the policies and decisions of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of the upcoming elections. She urged the US to take a stronger role against Netanyahu if he wins the new elections and returns to power.
Hillary Clinton recently clarified her position in an interview with MS Now’s Morning Joe. She said, “I have said many times that I love Israel, but I deeply dislike Netanyahu’s government and his policies. In the same way, I love my country, America, but I absolutely cannot accept Donald Trump’s government and his actions. What is happening in Israel is not only harmful to the future of their country, but also very worrying for the United States.”
In the interview, Hillary also mentioned that Washington’s policy needs to be tougher if Netanyahu returns to power. However, she believes that the United States will be able to work with Israel much more easily and effectively if a new leadership comes to power.
Hillary’s remarks have sparked renewed debate amid fierce competition in Israeli politics. Recent opinion polls show that while opposition parties are slightly ahead of Netanyahu’s coalition, no party has the majority needed to form a government on its own.
Netanyahu is already preparing to take office for a seventh term as prime minister, but his current coalition has been shaken by a series of political challenges, and he is now relying heavily on the support of his allies to hold on to his seat.
