Tearful Prime Minister heard the inhumane torture on the faces of the injured

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital to see policemen injured in the recent violence surrounding the quota reform movement.

He visited the hospital on Sunday afternoon. The Chief Minister spent some time with the injured policemen there and inquired about them.

At this time, the Prime Minister assured all assistance to the injured policemen for better treatment and speedy recovery.

The Prime Minister was moved by the condition of the seriously injured law enforcement personnel and hearing the inhumane torture on their faces. During this time he was seen shedding tears.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Member of Parliament Sheikh Helal Uddin, Cabinet Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain, Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister. Tofazzal Hossain Mia, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary. Naemul Islam Khan, Secretary of the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Jahangir Alam, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman were with the Prime Minister at that time.

The Prime Minister later visited the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) to see the injured in the recent violence.

During his visit to BSMMU, the Prime Minister inquired about the physical condition of the injured and their treatment.

At this time, the Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities to take all possible measures to ensure proper treatment of the injured. He assured all assistance to ensure proper treatment to the victims.

BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Dean Md. Nurul Haque and director of the hospital, Brigadier Md. General Dr. Md. Rezaur Rahman informed the Prime Minister about the measures taken for the treatment of the injured.

Sheikh Helal MP, Cabinet Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain, Prime Minister’s Chief Secretary M. Tofazzal Hossain Mia, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Md. Naeemul Islam Khan and the Prime Minister’s personal physician Dr. ABM Abdullah.

Police sources said 39 policemen who were attacked during the nationwide violence are now undergoing treatment in hospital. Three policemen were killed and 1,131 injured in nationwide riots. The deceased policemen are – Inspector Masud Parvez Bhuiyan, Assistant Sub-Inspector Md. Muktadir and Naik. Ghiyasuddin

Earlier, the Prime Minister visited the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DHMC) and the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) popularly known as Pangu Hospital to see the injured in the recent nationwide violence.
