T20 World Cup: Bangladesh will return with 2 crore 64 lakh Tk despite not winning any match

The prize money of this year’s T20 World Cup has been announced by ICC today. The total prize money in this tournament is 1 crore 12 lakh 50 thousand dollars. This is the highest prize money in the tournament’s 17-year history.

The champion team will get 24 lakh 50 thousand dollars. The champion team will get the most prize money in the history of T20 World Cup this time. This time the tournament is also being held with 20 teams, spanning 28 days across 9 venues in USA and West Indies – the biggest T20 World Cup in history.

The runner-up team will receive 12 lakh 80 thousand dollars as prize money. Each of the losing teams in the semi-finals will receive 787 thousand 500 dollars. Each of the four teams eliminated from Super Eight will get 3 lakh 82 thousand 500 dollars as prize money.
A total of 20 teams are divided into four groups. Each group consists of 5 teams and the top two teams from each group will play in the Super Eight. That is, after the top 8 teams out of the 20 teams advance to the Super Eight, there are 12 teams remaining. The 9th to 20th team will be determined according to the performance after the 8 teams that have reached the Super Eight. Among them, each of the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th teams will get 2 lakh 47 thousand 500 dollars. Each of the 13th to 20th teams will get 2 lakh 25 thousand dollars.

Some teams may not win any match in the tournament. However, those teams will get 2 lakh 25 thousand dollars (about 2 crore 64 lakh in Bangladeshi currency) as prize money just for participating.
