Taufiq was still talking. was moving, telling us, brother, shall I not live. I’m having trouble breathing. The lower part of the body is burning. Save me brother.

Rifat Hossain, a fourth-year student of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CHUTE), burst into tears while talking about these words. Rifat said these things in a memorial service organized at the central Shaheed Minar premises of Chuet on Wednesday afternoon. While saying these things, he himself cried, as well as made other classmates cry.

Shanto Saha, a third year student of civil engineering department and Taufiq Hossain, a second year student of the same department, were killed after being hit by a Shah Amanat Paribahan bus in Chittagong’s Rangunia Upazila Jianagar area. Zakariak Himu of the same year was injured. Later, a memorial service was organized in memory of the slain students. Hundreds of students participated in it.
“Brother, wait a little longer, I am coming to the hospital”

After the accident, Shanto and Taufiq were taken to a private hospital near the campus by local people. Later students Rifat Hossain and Fuad Iqbal reached there. Rifat went to the private Evercare Hospital with Taufiq after the first treatment. On the other hand, Fuad Iqbal went to Chittagong Medical College Hospital with Shanto.

The details of what happened on the way were presented by the two in the funeral. Fuad Iqbal said, ‘The road was never ending. How many times have I gone this way? But that day it seemed that the road was very long. Shanta did not die at the scene. He was moving. Shanta said, brother gave a call to my mother. But I didn’t have the number.

Fuad said, “The ambulance in which Shant was being taken did not have a siren. The entire road had to be diverted by screaming vehicles. At the end, he went to Bahaddarhat area and was not moving anymore. It was completely dull. Fuader’s throat became tight after saying these words. Even then, he said, “Brother, you are no longer with us, I can’t think about it.”

Many of the classmates of the two students killed in the meeting spoke. A student said, the killer bus driver overtook the lives of two people. This bus cannot run on the road. Shah Amanat’s route permit should be cancelled.

A student named Sadia Islam said, “I met Shanto Saha just half an hour ago that day. We gave class presentations together. After a while, I heard Shant is no more. I can’t accept it at all. I can’t imagine not seeing him again.’
